intro

The overall theme of my project is to create an urban style coffee shop/store brand and identity design with elements of minimalism and an inspiring organic style, which is reflected through an illustrative style.
I will take photographs for mockups and for illustrations, like coffee beans, a coffee machine which makes coffee, pastries, records and coffee shops around my local area.
My brand also has a character that represents it, which I hand-drew based on people's opinions of how I look. The logo and almost all fonts are also completely hand-drawn digitally, and for posters I want to create a variation of different illustrations that present and convey the spirit of the café using the main character.
I will be writing in my personal study about a graphic designer Paula Scher. In the study, I want to look at how she created her most famous graphic identities and the impact they have on society, how important graphic identity is to brands such as the Atlantic Theater, the Public Theater, and more.
Since I create graphic identity, I believe that Paula Scher is the ideal person who beautifully conveys the ideas of creating an identity and making a brand successful.

First stage is going to be about branding identity and initial ideas and sketches for illustrations
Second stage is going to be base on illustrations and developed later as screen printing for bags and T-shirts
Third stage is going to be about photographs and developed as collage later.
Fourth stage will be dedicated to posters and mockups. Possibly packaging design for coffee bags .
Fifths stage will be about UX/UI design.
For my final piece I want to make my own ceramic cups that represent whole idea of a shop.
In the identity of my store you can always see that the cups are different from 1 to 1 in an illustrative style that draws parallels between those who drink from them. Every person is different from each other but this does not negate the fact that each of us has a lot in common so I think that creating my own cups would be a good example of how they have different functions despite similarities but they can be different from each other. which makes each cup (person) special.
To make these mugs or cups, I'll go to a specialist pottery workshop in Manchester. I'll do four sketches for each mug and try to make at least two or three in the end.
If the first idea will not work I have a backup plan of creating a packaging deign for coffee bags, small booklet/ magazine/ fanzine or big A2 posters.
